Mr. Ruthenberg is the founder and General Manger of FoundLocally.com Media Inc.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario in 1980. He has been consulting in the computer industry since 1983, originally as part of his Chartered Accounting practice, and speaking across Canada on Scientific Research Tax Credits (SRTCs), through Foundation Seminars. He built a successful computer training company, wrote and published 300 computer books, and co-founded a software training CD-ROM company which he took public, before tackling the Internet.
In 1995, Mark began and funded one of the first community portal sites in Canada, the now-defunct UWannaWhat. He has since designed, developed and managed web sites for over a hundred clients, and is a popular professional speaker on Internet topics (a popular topic was "Life after the Dot Com Bust: tire tracks on my back").
He was a founding director of Digital Alberta [http://www.digitalalberta.com] (formerly the Alberta New Media Association or "ANMA"), and has served as the President of the Calgary chapter for three years, as Director for eight years, and Director of the provincial association for three years.
He has been both a judge and a presenter at the Canadian New Media Awards [http://www.cnma.ca] over several years. Mark is also a judge in the international Internet Advertising Competition [http://www.advertisingcompetition.org/iac/] since 2007 . He also serves on the academic advisory boards of several post-secondary institutions.
